That’s Hot…

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Well, I think its pretty much official now. Summer is here. That was apparent yesterday when my hands melted to my steering wheel. I can’t complain about it. I love summer, I went to the pool today to get some sun. I think I got a little. I don’t tan very well, I burn, peel and turn white again. But I am going to try again tomorrow. I have a good excuse. The weight and cardio rooms are closed, so I  can hang out at the pool without feeling guilty. Not that I would be able to do anything if it was open. I can barely walk today after yesterday’s lower body workout. I did the math, I did 160 squats and 160 lunges, among other things. So lets hope I start seeing those results very soon.

Other than all that, Kayla’s been able to play in her pool now that it’s warmer. I need to pick up a net to fish bugs and leaves out so she can get in tomorrow. I’ll leave you with a few pics of her enjoying her pool.  If you want to see the rest, check them out on Flickr.

Crawfish!!!

Who says you have to BBQ on Memorial Day? Not in Louisiana. Wes picked some up from Montalbano’s seafood on Florida Blvd. They were delicious. When those settle a bit, we’ve got watermelon in the fridge. Happy Memorial Day everyone, and Thank you to all the Veterans!

My sincerest apologies…

So I’ve been thinking that no one ever reads my blog because no one ever leaves a comment. Today, I found that I had about 40 comments awaiting my approval.  I didn’t know they were there. I used to get email updates when someone left a comment. I must have accidentally disabled that feature. To all of you who read and leave comments, I am really sorry and thank you for continuing to read. Now that I know you are there, I’ll have to post more interesting stuff. :)

The cupcake obsession continues…

Aren’t these the cutest little things you’ve ever seen? It took me the better part of a day to make them, but they are so cute and tasty too. It is essentially a cupcake, just dipped in chocolate. The inside is Red Velvet cake with cream cheese icing. This is the first time I’ve ever made red velvet, but it definitely won’t be my last. I wish I could take credit for these, but I got the recipe from Bakerella. Check out her site if you want the recipe.

First trip to the beach…

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

I’ve been meaning to post these pics for a week now, but just haven’t gotten around to it till now. My parents were vacationing in Gulf Shores, AL last week and Kayla and I invited ourselves. We drove up on Tuesday and came home on Thursday. The weather was pretty cool up there, so cool that we couldn’t get in the gulf. The swimming pool was cold too, Kayla’s lips were blue when we got out. Even though we couldn’t play in the gulf, Kayla had a blast playing in the sand. I buried her from shoulders down, she thought it was funny until she stuck her tongue in the sand, then she was ready to get out.

She ate more sand later too. She dug lots of holes and loved tearing down my sand castle. She did have fun playing in a little water trapped inland. She was trying to catch things as they floated by.

We did have to cut our trip shirt since Kayla refused to wear her hat. She got a little burn on the top of her head. Wes and I are headed to Destin in about 3 weeks, I hope the water has warmed up by then.

Not for the weak stomach…

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

I sit here typing this blog with only 1 finger on my right hand. Yesterday, I got into a fight with my new vegetable slicer…it won. I am missing the top of my middle finger. It hurts like heck too. I’ve been pretty useless since it happened. I can’t touch anything or get it wet, so that rules out everything except sleeping and watching tv. I’m contemplating on weather or not to go to the Dr. tomorrow. I didn’t go to the ER yesterday, mainly because I didn’t figure there was anything they could do since there is nothing to stitch, it’s just a whole. It took 2 hours of pressure before the bleeding slowed enough to bandage.  I am not normally squeamish when it comes to blood and such, but that was not the case this morning. I almost lost it when Wes changed the dressing. I am really sorry if I grossed anyone out. But if you want to see a picture of it from this morning, check it out on Flickr.

Too cute not to share…

IRON MAN…

Ok, so I’m not ususaly a fan on the comic book movies, but Iron Man was the exception. It was awesome. A little on the long side, just over 2 hours, but well worth it. I would go see it again.
