What a day…

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

Ever have one of those days that half way through you stop and say, This is the longest day ever!!! That was our day today. The day started about 6:30am, we got up and got dressed and ran out the door, hopped in the car and headed to N.O. A friend of ours from Maryland flew in for the weekend and Wes and I met him at Cafe’ Du Monde for some beignets and coffee. We sat and enjoyed our fried powdered sugar on the patio outside in the French Quarter.

It was freezing, we didn’t think that it might be slightly cooler there than here. Oh well, we survived. So we walked around a little bit. Sadly, today was the first time that we have been there since before Katrina. We saw some damaged buildings but mostly the French Quarter was the same as the last time we saw it. The biggest change we saw was the crowd. It was substantially smaller.

After that we headed back and couldn’t help but stop by the new Cabela’s in Gonzales. It was alright, I wasn’t all that impressed. I like Bass Pro better. But there were a lot of other people that were there buying tons of stuff. After that we headed to Watson to pick up Kayla from her Nana’s. She was nice enough to let her spend the night so that we didn’t have to take her to N.O. with us. I don’t bring my purse to N.O. I don’t want to bring Kayla. I don’t think she minded a bit, looks to me like she had a great time with Nana, Uncle Dave and Auntie Hannah.

So then it was home for a nap cause we were exhausted. I might should have mentioned that we didn’t actually go to bed till about 1:30 am this morning, so 6:30 came too soon. Fed and entertained Kayla and watched game 4 of the World Series. I was a little heartbroken that the Rockies not only got beat, but swept. Regardless, I had to stay up and watch the end of the game. Boston just had a better team thats all. Oh well, so here I am 11:48 pm and I really need to go to bed. So, that is your Sunday wrap up.

Revelation…

I realized something significant today…there are only 60 more shopping days till Christmas. This is serious, I need to get on the ball. I have only bought one gift so far and that is for Kayla.  She is half of our shopping list this year. I really can’t wait for Christmas, I love Christmas. I remember when I was a kid how excited I used to get over it all. My favorite thing, ( besides Santa Clause), was our family Christmas Eve party we had. I remember how every year seemed like it took forever to get here, like Christmas would never come. Now as an adult, it seems you turn the corner and here it is again. The last few years have been some what of a blur, fun but not the same child like anticipation that I used to have. But I am looking forward to sharing that with Kayla now. I don’t think she’ll understand it much this year, but we’ll play along and be excited enough for her.

At least its starting to feel more like the Holidays. I made my first put of gumbo for the year, Chicken and Sausage. It was very good too. I love gumbo, but it has to be cool enough to eat it. So when the temp dropped this week, I jumped on it before it gets hot again.

It’s that time of year…

I just couldn’t resist getting Kayla a Halloween costume. It was a tough choice, we wanted to be a Care Bear, but couldn’t find one so we decided to be a bumble bee. I think she made a great bumble bee. Wes and I took her to the pumpkin patch on Harrell’s Ferry road to take some nice pics in her costume. We were prepared and brought a blanket to sit on because she still does not like grass. I wanted to bring her to Boo at the Zoo, but Wes said she is a little young this year, but we are definitely going next year.

It was definitely time for a new do, I’ve been rocking the same style for a few years now. Went to see “The Man”, David and he hooked me up. I love Dave, he is the best. If you are looking for an awesome hair guru, go see him. He’s at the Lyons Den on Coursey Blvd. This is the 5th hair salon I have followed him to, thats how much I love him. So give me your honest opinion.

We are getting old…

Friday, October 19th, 2007

Well, its date night. Wes and I were home for 8:30pm. We are just getting old or something. We were just so tired. We went to Hello Sushi on Burbank and then to CC’s next door. Then it took all the energy we had to make it to the mall. There was nothing we really needed there, we just didn’t have anything else to do so we went there. The mall can be free entertainment if you have willpower. Which I do not, I bought some new clothes.

I don’t know why we are so tired. We were sick last weekend and Wes seems to think that we are still recovering from that. It’s a good theory. All I know is I feel like I haven’t slept in a week. I think maybe some vitamins would help.

In other news, Kayla has learned to crawl. Undiscovered movements have come together in sync to create TROUBLE. She’s not all over the place yet, but leave something on the floor that she isn’t supposed to have and she is there lickety-split. It is definitely time to baby proof. I haven’t decided if I’m going the baby gate route,(keep her in one room at all times), or the lock every drawer and cabinet route. I know the first thing that will have to go is the dog food. Prissy and Maggie’s eating all day long luxury is about to come to an end. They will be forced to eat at nap time only. But thats about it. I can’t leave you with out a photo, so here is Kayla’s Mohawk after her bath last night.

No Date Night…

Saturday, October 13th, 2007

Well I guess I’ll start on Thursday cause thats when it all started. I thought I had food poisoning but it later turned out to be a 24 hour stomach flu. After suffering though it all night, I called my Mom to take Kayla because I couldn’t take care of her in my condition. Then when I thought I was fine I seemed to have passed it along to my whole family, first Wes, then Kayla and now my Mom.  This is my public apology, I really didn’t think it was a virus, I didn’t think I was contagious and I feel really awful. SORRY!!!

So Wes and I stayed in this evening cause he is still feeling pretty rough. We watched LSU @ Kentucky, that was hard to watch. I can’t believe we lost to a 17th ranked team.  There should have not been a 3rd OT, LSU just could catch tonight. Too many dropped passes. LSU should have had that game in regulation time. And a 57 yard field goal attempt? I just don’t know what to say. I hope for better next week against Auburn. Wes and I will be tailgating. :)

Wow…Just Wow

What a game. LSU the victor over Florida 24-28. I tell you in the first quarter I never expected that, nor the second or the third. We didn’t make it to the game but the suspense was still high watching on TV. Nearly 92,000 seats and everyone was empty the entire fourth quarter. LSU went for it on 4th down twice in the last quarter and came up lucky both times. And Hester driving it into the end zone by just a few inches. All I can say is WOW!

This is so funny…

Fraud…

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

Well nothing is safe, I logged onto my online banking today to balance my checkbook and saw there was a balance on my credit card. The one I never use that’s supposed to have a zero balance. Instead of zero, it had a balance of nearly $1,400.00. So I log in to investigate further and there are purchases to Staples and Walmart in Kentucky, and a gas station in Georgia. So I called the company and reported it and Capital One really kept their “No Hassle” promise. She shut down my card and issued me a new one, and best of all took all the charges off the account. Fishy part about it is that she said the purchases were made in store with a card. I am hoping they transfered my data to a blank card and they don’t have my SS# and other information. Who’s the culprit you ask? Paypal!!! Thats right, a site that claims to be secure. Apparently, information was compromised but I didn’t get an email warning me about it. I deleted my profile and will not be making anymore payments to Ebay. Which I guess means I will not be shopping at Ebay.  :(

So anyway, if you have a paypal account, you might want to check your bank or credit card statements for fraudulent activity.
