Kayla’s new progress…

My little Kayla is getting up on her arms now. Not yet crawling but she can scoot. If funny, I don’t think she realized what she’s doing because she is usually mad when we put her on the floor. She also rolled over once. I put her to bed on her tummy and when she woke up, she was on her back. Our baby is a genius at only 3 months.

In other news, I successfully made a loaf of banana bread today. This has proven to be quite a feat for me. I have tried several times and several recipes all ending in disaster. The most common result being burnt to a crisp on the outside and raw on the inside. But today, VICTORY AT LAST.

Date Night…

Sunday, June 24th, 2007

Well we had another great date night last night. We went to Barnes & Nobles to do a little reading and shopping, then from there we took our new reads to CC’s coffee for a little down time before dinner. We ended up at Hello Sushi, which was by far the coolest sushi joint I’ve ever been to. I highly recommend it if you like sushi or are just looking for a cool new place to eat in Baton Rouge. Its very pop culture in a DDR sort of way. After that, we went to see Evan Almighty, it was a great family movie, I recommend it as well. Wes and I enjoyed it as well as Dave and Hannah. Then we rounded out the night with our weekly grocery shopping, which is always entertaining when Wes is pushing the buggy.

Medical Mystery…

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

Well today was an adventure. I had a Dr.’s appointment to determine why I was in an incredible amount of pain night before last. I though I was having a heart attack, this was the second time its happened, so I figure I better go. First I had to find a Dr. since I haven’t been to the Dr. in about 10 years, I needed a new one. So I had blood drawn, a chest X-ray and an Ultrasound on my Gallbladder. The latter two turned out fine ruling out 2 possibilities, now were just waiting to hear back on the blood work. Dr. seems to think its Acid Reflux which is brought on by tomato stuff, spicy stuff and stress. All of which I have from time to time. So for right now, I’m just waiting to hear something and not eating tomatoes.

Daily Grind, Not as bad as I remember…

Monday, June 18th, 2007

Well today was the first time I have worked out in about a year. I figured pregnancy was a good excuse not to go and also to eat whatever I wanted. Morning Sickness played a part in that decision, which was all fine and good then, but this is now. Its time and I find it a good way to get out of the house without spending money. I am sure Wes and his checkbook are thrilled that we are going to the YMCA and not Target everyday. It’s not establishing the habit that was the problem for me, it was getting over that first time anxiety. Luckily for me, I found a workout buddy. Sadie and I are going to be working out together, which is soooo much better than going at it alone. Our strategy is that the Pool is an incentive, we go in, get out workout done and then its pool time. Works for me, I could spend all day at the pool. But, there is a 2 hour limit at the daycare.

Galactic Bowl Date Night…

Friday, June 15th, 2007

Well tonight marks the last Friday night “Date Night”. We are moving them to Saturday Night. To commemorate this occasion we went bowling with our buds from across the street Skrigz & Sadie. They are bowling machines, ok so maybe not, but we always a lot of fun. The last time we went, Kerald won 3 games of free bowling for his extraordinary dancing skillz. Tonight, he won 2 more and a free pizza. Sadie also cut a rug and won a free game. They may never have to pay for bowling again. Why didn’t I win any you ask? Well its because I can’t dance. Wes and I are most definitely WHITE PEOPLE. Neither of has any rhythm. The only dance I know is the Electric Slide. But we made bowling interesting, we had lightening rounds which consisted of, eyes closed bowling, opposite hand bowling, dizzy bowling and granny bowling. The sad part is, I think we were better at those than regular bowling.

On another note, Wes and I have declared this weekend, “LAZY WEEKEND”. Its going to be filled with sleeping, vegging, and maybe a little Wii. So if you have any work that needs to be done, don’t call us.

We have Cooties…

Wes and I are already embracing our inner child. We were at Target the other night and decided Kayla needed a game. I think she might be a little young for it now, but she’ll grow into it. We had fun playing it anyway. I had Cootie when I was a kid and it was one of my favorites. You may have noticed that our Cooties are without eyes. They forgot to include the eye decals in the box. But I emailed the company and they apologized for the mistake and said they would mail them to me.

I love to see these classic games are still being made. They bring back memories. Some of my other favorites were Trouble, Candyland, Hungry Hungry Hippos and Hi-Ho Cherrio. What about you, what was your favorite game growing up?

I love stationary…

Monday, June 4th, 2007

Random thought of the day: Stationary

I have this weird obsession with office supplies and paper. Anyone feeling me or am I the only one? I found this awesome stationary set at Target for $10. 200 envelopes and card stock in 8 different colors. I just couldn’t help myself. I couldn’t wait to put them to good use. I used them to send out pictures out to family and friends that haven’t seen her yet or on a while. It was almost perfect, I did have to trim the 4″x 6″ pictures slightly to fit inside the envelope. I don’t know if I’ll ever use all 200 of them, but I like looking at them on my desk.

I’m not just partial to just paper though, I also love pens. I bought a jumbo pen cup for my desk and filled it up in one afternoon. I guess I needed two. The funny thing is that I don’t really use them. Email has really cut down on the need for ink and paper.

Weekend wrap up…

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

Well it’s the end of another weekend, and again it comes too soon. It was a good one though. It started off with the return of Date Night. Wes and I went to On The Border, it was delicious as always. It was a nice change of pace from our usual Mexican joint Las Palmas. Then we headed over to the Rave to see Pirates of the Caribbean. It was an interesting end to the trilogy. Thats all I have to say about it, I don’t want to ruin the ending or discourage anyone from going to see it.

Then on Saturday Wes and I went with my family tubing in Tylertown, MS. It was a lot of fun, as always. It’s pretty relaxing, laying back in your tube floating down the river then BAM, you get rammed in the butt by a tree stump. I have a bruise on my right buttock to prove it. It was a beautiful day for tubing. We decided to go early in the season when it was still enjoyable rather than mid July when it’s 100 deg. Despite the nice weather and several coats of sunblock, we all seemed to get a little sunburned. I missed spots on my feet where my shoes stopped and my left knee. I don’t know what happened there. Wes just failed to put any sunblock on his legs and they are a nice shade of red. I definitely worked some back and shoulder muscles doing all that paddling because I woke up stiff this morning.

Hence the reason we didn’t go to church this morning, I couldn’t move. Wes did some chores around the house and I stayed inside with Kayla and watched TV. I wasn’t a complete bum, I washed a couple loads of Laundry, and folded one of them. I hate folding clothes, it has got to be the worst chore. Give me dishes any day. I think that’ll be the first thing I teach Kayla how to do is fold the laundry. We just got back from our weekly late night grocery shopping. I hate going to Wal-mart at night. I don’t care what kind of neighborhood you love in, Wal-mart is a scary place after dark. I would never go there alone. Thankfully, I don’t have to.
