We’re Home….

We got to bring our little Kayla home today. I’m feeling better, happy to be home. Wes and I were getting a little cramped in that hospital room. I have to say though, we were catered to. The staff at Womans Hospital are the best, they made sure we had everything we needed, even room service. Wes is outside cutting the grass. He’s anticipating all the guests we’ll have over the next few days. Prissy and Maggie were very curious and excited to see her. I am not sure they know what she is yet. They like her right now, but she is still sleeping.

If you are reading my blog you probably already read Wes’ blog and know all about the delivery. It was quite an ordeal, but she’s here now and we couldn’t be happier. She is so precious. I know all parents think their kids are the greatest, but ours really is. :) She is so peaceful and quite, she doesn’t cry. It’s crazy to think this little life is totally dependent on Wes and I, kinda scary and cool at the same time. Its been hard having to rely on Wes the last couple days, I’ve been as helpless as Kayla. He’s been awesome though, he’s taken excellent care of both of us. I already knew he was a great husband, now he’s a great Daddy too.

Hours to go…

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

Well, were about to hit the sack, don’t know how much sleep we’ll get. Were pretty excited. We’ve gotta get up about 4:00 to get dressed and call the hospital. We’re supposed to be there at 5:30am. They will start a drip and we will wait to see if it works. Cross your fingers, we want it to work, we don’t want the alternative. Wes and I went out for dinner at Outback Steakhouse, our last night as a family of 2, for tomorrow our lives will be different forever. We hit up the magazine store and got lots of reading material, I think we’ll be just waiting for quite a while. Wes will be the issuing the news on his blog, so check it from time to time tomorrow, I am sure he’ll post pictures and measurements instantly.

When you have nothing to say…

Wes brought up an interesting topic on his blog, too funny not to share. Check it out.

Little Kayla will be here very soon and we have her room all ready for her. I hope she likes pink. I had fun picking furniture and decorating her room. Of course, the room won’t be complete without her. Only 3 more days. We’ve been trying to force her out this weekend. Wes about walked me to death today, I think we actually walked the mall 3 times. Yesterday Annette and I walked in the mall and around Town Center. Friday I walked in the mall by myself. I am definitely tired of the mall. Don’t know where I’ll go tomorrow, maybe I’ll just take the dogs out for a walk.

Good News…

Went to the Dr today and my fluid number went from 6 to 12.5. All that water must have paid off. I know my child didn’t swallow half her environment and pee it back out. So we didn’t have to extract her from her home today. We did however set an appointment for Wednesday. So one way or another, she’s coming out of there on Wednesday. I have gone from one extreme to the next, the last 2 days I have been on bed rest, only allowed to drink water and rest, now I have been ordered to walk as much as I can to try and push myself into labor. So, we’ll do what we have to do to try for a natural birth, the other option is a C-section, which is not our first choice. So, I did lots of walking today, went to the mall and to Target. I’ll be at it again tomorrow too. Probably everyday till Wednesday.

What to do?

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

So, I went to the doctor yesterday and got some not so great news. Baby’s fluid levels are low, so Doc sent me home on bed rest. I’m supposed to do nothing but prop my feet up and drink lots of water. Sounds like fun, but you’d be surprised how quickly TV can get old. I’m in for a simular day tomorrow, but I go back to the Dr. on Friday. If things have improved, I will continue to wait for Kayla to make her appearance. If things have not improved, we will be seeing Kayla on Friday by way of C-section. So, were hoping thats not the way it goes, but either way Kayla will be here very soon. I think I drank a record amount of water today. 100 oz and still going. Doc said drink a lot, but he didn’t specify how much, so I figure you can’t have too much. We’ll just see if it was enough on Friday.

KAYLA

Yes, this is what I’ve been up to. If you can’t find stuff to match you have to make your own. I actually found a website that you could buy the wooden letters in the colors I wanted, $180 for 5 letters. I said “No Way Jose”. So I found unfinished letters at Hobby Lobby and painted them myself. It was actually kind of fun. Wes was nice enough to hang them on the wall for me. It was very technical. It took a trip to Lowes and a lot of math. Good thing I married a genious. So, her nursery is all done, It’s just waiting to be occupied. As to when that might be, it’s still up in the air. We may have to wait for her to make her move after all. Dr. said yesterday that she weighs about 5.9lbs, which means she must be a Ratcliff. I don’t think there were any small babies on the McAdams/ Durbin side of the family.

Is no news good news?

Went to the Dr. today, Wes and I have had our hopes up all week that he would set a date to induce labor, but was disappointed that he didn’t. Its not over though, there is a tiny glimmer of hope. I go to the other Dr. tomorrow for a sonagram and if little Kayla weights 7lbs then he said we’ll set a date. She feels 7lbs to me, lets do this. I have been patient for the last nine months, I can’t take it anymore. I want to see and hold my little kayla. There isn’t anything left for me to do but wait. Her room is ready, the car is ready, Wes and I are ready. The waiting is the hardest part.

Deader then a doorknob…

My computer finally bit the dust last night. Its gone, no warning, just kaput. We were planning on upgrading to the MAC in the near future, but not this soon. Hopefully Wes will be able to salvage my files, emails and iTunes. If not, I’ll be one unhappy camper. Oh well, what can you do?

Productive weekend…

Sunday, March 4th, 2007

This weekend has been a quick one, but I got a lot done. Despite having to work yesterday, Wes and I cleaned the house, went grocery shopping and washed all of Kayla’s clothes. There are quite a few of them and folding baby size clothes can be a challenge. All worth it though, our anticipation grows each day. Wes and I have been on a mission to sterilize our house. There are even plans to have to dogs shaved just incase. I am sure they will appreciate their new do. Both of them hate going to the groomer. Maggie actually bit her one day. Needless to say, our babies are not favorites at her salon.
