Tha daily grind…

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Wes and I had to return to work yesterday. It wasn’t easy after having 10 days off. I think Wes made it through his day pretty smoothly. I on the other hand, I was a bit stressed. I had lots of stuff waiting for me when I got back. I was hoping that somethings would get taken care of while I was away, but that just didn’t happen. But today was a better day. This week will be full of cleaning and home improvement. We are gearing up for the baby and for the baby shower. We are having my shower this Saturday at my house. All ladies invited. Wes has turned into a regular Bob Vila. He has been at it since we got home from out trip. He’s already installed a new doorbell, put numbers on the house, rewired and changed all the light switches, put new screen on the back door and hung 3 new pairs of blinds. Still to do this week, touchup paint in the house, re-caulk the bathtub, new outlets and clean out the flower bed. We should have more parties at our house. :) But mostly, we want everything to be safe and clean for little Ratcliff.

Good Ole Baton Rouge…

Saturday, January 27th, 2007

Yes, our trip is finally over. Arrived in Baton Rouge about 4:15pm this afternoon and wouldn’t you know, it was raining. It was raining when we left, raining when we got back, go figure. Its all good though, Wes and I are happy to be home sweet home. We love to travel and play, but its always good to be home. Fortunately our flight home was uneventful, unlike the trip there. All flights were on time and no turbulance this time. We enjoyed our last day yesterday by driving into Denver for some shopping at the Cherry Creek Mall. Its one of those high end malls like the Galleria. Its fun to visit those stores you don’t have at home. This mall had a Tiffany & Co, Saks Fith Ave, Apple, Etc. You know, those stores you love, but can’t afford :) Anyway, it was a great trip. It should be sufficient enough to last a while. We are coming down to the final countdown before our little Ratcliff arrives, and I am sure there won’t be much traveling for a while.

Things are heating up…

Literally, its a little warmer today than the last few days have been. The snow and ice on the sidewalks are beginning to melt. Which makes for some pretty nasty slush. We ventured into town again today to pick up my pottery from Tuesday, ( which actually came out pretty good). Slippery sidewalks made for a slow walk, tiptoeing around to prevent falling or splashing. Holly and I made a snow pyramid last night as you can see from the picture above. We attempted to make a snowman, but the snow was too powdery and wouldn’t stick together. We may tray again tonight since the snow melted a little bit. Tubing didn’t work out last night. They don’t let 7.5 month pregnant women ride the mountain in a tube, so we went to the local grocery store and picked up a couple plastic sleds of our own. We’ll try those out a little later today. Were trying to decide what to do tomorrow on our last day. I am pushing for a trip into Denver, don’t know if anyone else will jump on the bandwagon though. Anywho, check back a little later, I’ll try to post some pics of us sledding.

P.S. You can check out all the pics from our trip on Wes’ blog.

Peak 8

We took the Gondola up to the top of peak 8. Very pretty up there, we sat and watched people Ski and Snowboard. No wipe outs though. Then we headed out to Silverthorne / Frisco for some shopping. There is an awesome outlet mall up there. There was a Nike outlet, it rocked, I got some new Nike Shoes for $50. Not bad. Stopped at the grocery store on the way home and picked up supplies for our snowman. He may be coming together tonight or tomorrow. We are definately hitting the slopes tonight for some downhill tubing. Should be fun.

Shopped till I dropped…..

I braved the elements and conquered the fear of entertaining myself and ventured out on my own for a day of shopping. Breckenridge has a free transit system, but being form LA or maybe that I am in fact a female, I wasn’t bright enough to figure it out. So, I walked into town, which was a good distance and the store I wanted to go to was clear on the other side of town. I definately got my exercise for the day. But oh well, I lived right? Anyway, I went to this really neat little place called Ready, Paint, Fire. Basically you go in and pick pieces of unfinished pottery and paint it, they glaze it and place it in the Kiln to set. So I get to go back on Thursday and pick up my finished pieces. I made a piggy bank for Kayla and a pitcher for me. It was a great activity for today, it took a good hour and a half. After that, I hit a couple gift shops. Got Blake, Annette and Mom something. No, I won’t say what, you’ll just have to wait. It was kinda warn today, it was in the low 30’s, but the cold is different. I was sweating on my jacket hiking back to the cabin. Got back to find out that my father in law dislocated his shoulder while skiing today. He had to go to the medical center and get x-rays and such.

Holly showed us this video on youtube last night, its too funny.

Breckenridge is cold!!!

Burrr, its freezing here, literally. It was 9 deg today. Took it easy today, played in the snow a little bit. Wes is going out Skiing tomorrow. Had bad luck getting here, at both airports. First our 6am flight was canceled, Ray and Holly flew out at 11:30, but Wes and I had a 4:50 flight, which was delayed. We left BR about 5:30, got into Dallas late, but our flight was late there too. We boarded that plane at 7:25, but sat on the runway for an hour waiting for someone to fix a light bulb. No joke! So we arrived in Colorado Springs about 9:20, Jared and Joy were there to pick us up. We grabbed a bite to eat and headed to Breckenridge. We got here about 2:00am. We were exhausted. So today was a nice break to just kinda lay around and chill.

Snow is really cool, this is the first time I have been around real snow, and there is plenty of it. Check me out making a snow angel earlier. I think tomorrow I’ll make a snowman

Colorado bound…

Friday, January 19th, 2007

Well, we are leaving for Colorado in a few hours and I still have not finished packing. I am just not motivated to do it. This is not a first, we always forget something at home because we pack at the last minute. But oh well, if we need it we’ll buy it when we get there. I can’t wait to go play in the snow. Last time we went to CO, the snow that was left was frozen solid. I fully intend on taking Wes out with a giant snowball. Hopefully we’ll get some pictures to show.

Still a girl…

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

Went to the doctor today for another sonagram. Its still a girl, so thats good. Especially since everything in pink. Doc said everything looks good, right on target. Baby Ratcliff weighs 2lbs 9oz. Also had to drink the sugar stuff today. Unfortunately I failed, so I have to go back next week and take the 3 hour test. :( I am certainly not happy about that. If anyone wants to come and keep me company, be my guest. I think I’ll bring the DS and a couple magazines to pass the time. I just hope I pass this time.
