Just another day at the track…

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Just another beautiful Sunday hanging out at State Capital Raceway. We took my car out and ran a new best time. Wes ran a 12.91 which bested the last time of 12.92. Yeah I know, HUGE difference :) My best run was a 13.00, wasn’t having a great run day, I DQ’d  2 out 3 times.  Car photographer extraordinaire, Terry Stokes, was out taking pics and got some great shots of my last run.

Even Kayla got to drive. She cut some donuts on that cart. She’s a natural :)

New hobby…

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Last Sunday, Wes and I finally made it out to CENLA-SCCA, otherwise known as Autocross. It’s something we’ve been talking about doing for months, but finally got around to it. You know, you don’t have to be good at something to enjoy it. I had a blast and can’t wait to do it again next month. But next time I will remember to bring the sunscreen.

Here is my last run, and my best time of 56.1 sec

Way behind…

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Wes and I, ( and a bunch of other  people), went out to State Capital raceway last Saturday night to play with our cars. I was hoping for some better numbers but it just wasn’t my night. I ran a 13.23 on my first pass and a 13.34 on my 2nd both @ 106 mph. The 2nd pass was the worst, I just couldn’t get traction and spun the tired halfway down the track. I was hoping to get in the 12’s that night. My car did make a 12.98 run, but Wes was driving.  I would have like to had one more shot at it before we left, but everyone and their momma was at the track that night and in 4 hours, were only able to make 3 passes. Wes had a little better night with his 95, running a 11.66 @ 119 mph.

Alas, someone did have a good night. Andrew was having some issues too, but traded out his street tires for some ET Streets and ran a 13.10 on his 3rd pass. So Andrew, you win for now, but I’ll be looking for a rematch soon.

Even though I didn’t have a good video of me racing, I still had fun editing these.

Yep, I got yet another new toy this week. Wes installed some Hotrod Cams in the Stang and I must say I am loving the rumble. I’ve always loved that rough rumble engine sound from the classic muscle cars. Not just for show though, it picked up another 25 hp. Weather you can back it up or not, it just sounds bad. But Wes and I both agree, that I really really need racing stripes. Not like I needed any convincing. I am so ready to get my Rousch hoodscoop painted. I’ve only been holding on to it since February. It’s time. I’m ready for another track night too. Wes replaced the rear end gears a couple weeks ago too. So I’m just ready to say with certainty that I have a 12 second car.

Fastest tomato in the world…

Sunday, May 24th, 2009

Wes and I went out to State Capital Raceway the other night for test and tune. Just playing around with my car a little. It really wasn’t a great night, it was very humid. So I still didn’t get in the 12’s like I’d hoped. But this little tomato had the ride of it’s life.  He had a comfy little spot in the glove compartment. Fastest recorded time was 103mph. I have googled this and see no other tomatoes reaching high speeds. Therefor I declare this tomato the fastest tomato in the world!

What becomes of such a special tomato you ask? Well, tonight it was sliced up and pared with bacon and mayo to make a spectacular BLT ( minus the L). Fast tomatoes are delicious.

iMovie…

Friday, May 8th, 2009

So yesterday Wes tells me he wants me to learn iMovie and make some videos for TPS. I couldn’t wait to get started, this is my first video attempt, all trial and error. Took me about 3 hours to make this, but hopefully, now that I’ve figured out how to use it, the next one won’t take near as long. I’m loving my Mac. Check it out, tell me what you think…

Nothing says “I love you” like a Roush hood scoop.

UPS came by and delivered my Valentines Day present today. I know what your thinking, flowers? Candy? Human size stuffed animal? Not in this house, if you want to show that someone special how much you care, get them something special from American Muscle.

Someone must love me a lot!

Ducktail Spoiler

Now, they don’t match now, but they will soon. For my birthday present, Wes is getting them painted to match my car. As well as window tint and custom racing stripes. Fingers crossed that this will be done by my birthday, which is in about 2  weeks :)

Track day…

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Wes and I and the rest of the crew went out to State Capital raceway yesterday to play with our toys. We brought Kayla with us this time. I didn’t know how she would react to all the loud noise, but she did great. She ran around and cheered all the drivers on by yelling, “Go Go Go”. After a couple hours she’d worn herself out and passed out on Wes. I don’t know how she slept through all that noise, but she did. It never phased her.

As for my car, we made 5 passes. My best of the day was a 13.49, but Wes ran a 13.38 ( show off). I did however, have a pretty impressive burnout on the last run. It’s nice to borrow someone else’s tires for track day, haha. We did learn from our last track night, and out wax on the back fenders. Last time, it took Wes and I the better part of an hour to scrub all the melted rubber off the paint.

I’m really anxious to pass inspection so I can put some new stuff on my car. Wes  brought it by Saturday morning and failed for the 2nd time.

That is my new UPR Cold Air Intake. And yes to answer your question, I did install it myself with a little coaching from my genius hubby. It was really easy, didn’t take more than 30 minutes to install. Hopefully this week, I’ll get my H-pipe for my exhaust installed, but I’m gonna let the pro’s at TPS handle that one.  Then I should be good to go for the track this weekend. We’re going to State Capital on the 25th if anyone wants to come out with us.  I’m hoping to beat my previous track time.

On a related note, I finally got my plate in yesterday. It only took 2 months and 2 affidavits. You gotta love the state of LA and the DMV, they know how to get you from every angle.
